2021

To kick off the 2021 sessions, the children learned about internet safety and online stranger danger. The children understood the dangers of platforms like TikTok & Snapchat and the importance of reporting unwanted attention to their parents/guardians/teachers.

They also created their own profiles for this website and uploaded their pictures and bios.

The first marketing session covered how to build a brand when setting up a business. The children had nearly 100% in a logo quiz and recognised new and old brands like Just Eat, Mcdonalds, and Sony instantly. Chris was very impressed.

They also started building their own web pages and chose the theme and colour scheme for this website.

In the second session, Chris put the children into two teams and asked them to create a logo for Townhill Summer Club. The children learned the importance of colours, fonts, and both teams went head to head on a social media poll and let our audience choose the winning logo. The children decided they wanted the logo to have three colours – Red for Townhill School, Blue for Seaview and Yellow to represent Summer.

With 60% of the social vote the winning log came from team A.

Laura unveiled the winning logo on session 3 by wearing a branded top for Townhill Summer Club.

TikTok Fun

To finish each session all members created fun Tiktok’s – the children certainly kept Chris on his toes!

“Teaching the children the importance of social media security is so important these days. Especially during the lockdown, screen time was up massively and the children have easy access to apps such as Instagram and TikTok. We wanted to make sure they were equipped with the knowledge of ‘social media stranger danger’. We made sure each session was packed with fun!” says Chris Norman

Creating the website

The children were very switched on when it came to building their own pages and were so excited when we finally put the site live in the last session.

Chris shows the pupils how the site looks on mobile devices.

The children celebrated with party poppers and refreshments when the site went live.

Well done all… you certainly have talent to become web superstars!
